<title>Examining the effects of inflation and unemployment on economic growth in Rwanda</title>
<link>https://dr.ur.ac.rw/handle/123456789/2744</link>
<description>Examining the effects of inflation and unemployment on economic growth in Rwanda
Bikorimana, Eugene
This study analyzes the impact of inflation and unemployment on economic growth in Rwanda, &#13;
providing insights for effective economic policy formulation. Using statistical methods like impulse response function (IRF), historical decomposition, and variance decomposition, the study reveals how real GDP, inflation, and unemployment respond to shocks. The historical decomposition analysis highlights the increasing role of external factors in influencing &#13;
fluctuations, while the variance decomposition analysis highlights the significance of inflation and unemployment shocks in driving fluctuations in real GDP. The findings emphasize the importance of understanding the impact of inflation and unemployment shocks on Rwanda's economy and formulating appropriate policies to mitigate their effects. Recommendations include developing a robust macroeconomic policy framework, implementing targeted employment policies, encouraging economic diversification, and fostering stakeholder collaboration for sustainable economic growth. This study offers valuable insights for policymakers, businesses, and researchers to navigate uncertain economic landscapes and promote economic stability and growth in Rwanda.

<description>The mediating role of savings behavior in the relationship between financial literacy and loan repayment in Rwandan SACCOs. Case study of SACCO Shirubukene Ngoma.
Hategekimana, Joseph
This study examines the mediating role of saving behavior in the relationship between financial literacy and loan repayment among U-SACCO’s members Shirubukene Ngoma in Rwanda. To lead the research, a conceptual framework was constructed drawing on the ideas of the financial well-being model and dual process theory. Through inferential and descriptive statistics applied to data acquired from 381 sample customers, the study reveals several significant findings. &#13;
Firstly, it observes a high degree of financial literacy among U-SACCO clients, with education level favorably correlated with financial literacy. The survey shows a somewhat satisfactory degree of saving behavior among customers, with higher education levels being connected with greater financial responsibility. Furthermore, large positive relationships are identified between &#13;
financial literacy and both saving behavior and loan repayment. Notably, saving behavior is confirmed to mediate the relationship between financial literacy and loan repayment, with statistical significance. These findings emphasize the necessity of promoting financial literacy and responsible saving habits to enhance loan repayment rates among U-SACCO's clients. The study recommends targeted financial education initiatives and tailored support to empower customers to make informed financial decisions, thereby promoting well-being and financial stability in Rwanda's economic landscape. However, it was noted that while there is a good positive correlation between financial literacy and taking a loan in U-SACCO, other factors beyond financial literacy and saving practice may also influence persons' decisions to take loans from U-SACCO. Further research may be required to explore these factors in more detail.

<description>The effect of project management leadership skills and leadership styles on the success of construction projects. A case study of Engen Petroleum stations construction projects in Kigali, Rwanda
Mubarak, Swaleh Suleiman
The research titled ‘The effect of project management leadership skills and leadership styles on the success of construction projects in Kigali, Rwanda’ conducted to evaluate how the success of Engen Petrol Station construction projects in Kigali, Rwanda is impacted by leadership abilities and leadership philosophies. For this study, descriptive research design was used. 250 respondents who were participating in the Kigali Engen Petrol Stations Construction projects were the study's target group of which the total population was considered for the sample in order to achieve 100% accuracy. Questionnaires were the major data collection instrument. The data was examined with SPSS program using descriptive statistics. To ascertain the relationship between the independent and dependent variables, multiple regression analysis was also used in &#13;
the study.&#13;
According to results, leadership style and leadership abilities were positively correlated with one another with a value of 0.681 and 0.705 respectively and a p value &lt; 0.001 with success of Engen Petrol Stations construction project. The study found a substantial correlation between the dependent variables’ actual values and those predicted by the model, with R value of 0.795, indicating significant association between successful construction project management, leadership abilities and leadership philosophies. The model also suggested the variables used in the study were reliable (&#119903;2=0.632, F=196.125, Sig. F &lt;0.001). The regression model results also suggested a strongly relationship between leadership abilities and philosophies with success on construction project with healthy constant alpha of 0.385, alpha of 0.553 and 0.460 for leadership philosophies and leadership abilities respectively.In light of these findings, adoption and use of efficient project management leadership techniques are advised by the study and integration of leadership skills across all level of management in a project. Since the study primarily focused on leadership abilities and leadership style, it is recommended that additional research be done to identify other elements that are effecting 36.8% of the success of the construction of Engen Petrol Stations in Kigali, Rwanda.

<title>The impact of Central Bank regulations on the performance of Commercial Bank in Rwanda</title>
<link>https://dr.ur.ac.rw/handle/123456789/2667</link>
<description>The impact of Central Bank regulations on the performance of Commercial Bank in Rwanda
Cyiza, Hellen
This study examines the impact of Central Bank regulations on the performance of Bank of Kigali &#13;
(BK) in Rwanda. The demographic profile of respondents is predominantly aged 31-50 years. The analysis reveals significant correlations between regulatory measures and bank performance, such as monetary policy rate, interbank rate, broad money growth, and Return on Equity (ROE). Higher central bank policy rates correspond to elevated interbank borrowing costs, while increased broad money growth shows a moderate negative correlation with ROE, suggesting potential impacts on bank profitability. The study also explores trends and correlations to understand how regulatory &#13;
measures influence bank performance over time. The monetary policy rate remained stable, indicating consistent central bank policy. However, interbank rates exhibited greater variability, reflecting fluctuations in borrowing costs within the banking sector. Broad money growth showed significant variability, indicating dynamic changes in money supply dynamics. Despite external &#13;
fluctuations, BK maintained a stable ROE ranging from 16.0 to 22.9, underscoring resilient performance amid varying economic conditions. Stakeholders' perceptions of the impact of central bank regulations on bank performance metrics were largely positive, with a majority agreeing that these regulations enhance net income, improve return on assets, and contribute to customer growth.
