Background
Objectives: to demonstrate the prevalence of psychopathologies like depression and anxiety in children and their parents and to explore correlates of ego resilience
Methods: The participants have been recruited in three sector of Kicukiro district, Gatenga, Gikondo and Kigarama Sectors. A total of 400 parent-child dyads voluntary participated in the study. Data were conducted from March to May, 2022 using Mindful Parenting, Ego Resiliency, Parental anxiety and depression, Children’s anxiety and Children’s depression questionnaires. Questionnaires from 249 parent-child dyads were matched according to ID number we used and were included in further analysis, after data collection, data of our quantitative research were analyzed using SPSS.
Results: Result showed that there are parents’ high probable anxiety symptoms (44.2%) and parents’ high probable depressive symptoms (35.3 %) and in their children probable anxiety symptoms (8%) and probable depressive symptoms (6.8 %), they also showed that psychopathologies’ symptoms of parents and those of children, gender of parents and family care also negatively correlates with children’s ego resilience.
Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, psychopathologies’ symptoms of parents and those of children, gender and family care are the correlates of ego resilience and there is a high prevalence of psychopathologies symptoms like depression and anxiety of parents and those of their children. |
