dc.description.abstract Road safety is very important to reduce the occurrence of accidents due to vehicles using the roads. It minimizes the loss of property and life. The roads have general traffic signs indicating the speed limit of the vehicles. Automatic speed governor with IoT-based road signal detection system is the system to detect the speed limit indicated by the road sign by using its Gps coordinates, notify the vehicle (users of the vehicle) of the speed limit detected in a specific area, and once the vehicle speed reaches the limited speed there could be an alert. Public/private, transport, and goods vehicles are the main concern of the research. This system is an IoT-based technology with Arduino, a GPS device, and a GSM module. GPS coordinates the location of the load's traffic signs while GSM handles the communication of moving vehicles and the location of traffic signs. Arduino provides the main program which is responsible for all functionalities of the system. An accurate and precise alert notification will provide great support in reducing the large number of accidents caused by drivers rolling at high speeds while also protecting owners of the vehicles to be charged unexpected traffic fines due to the vehicle's speed. en_US
