Abstract:
A car is an essential instrument in our daily lives. It is a terrific mode of transportation and a great source of comfort because it allows us to travel long distances in a short amount of time and can be used for range of activities including transferring things or people. However car theft is a significant concern in RWANDA, affecting public safety and causing financial losses to vehicle owners. In this research I designed the “IoT Based Car Security System” which aimed to proactively safeguard cars against theft and other unauthorized access .The system designed is made of different sensors(proximity motion sensor , finger print, touch sensor and GPS) ; actuators(Buzzer and Servo motor) and other IoT device like GSM. The IoT-based approach allows for seamless integration of proximity motion sensor to detect any movement around the car, Touch sensor for detecting any unauthorized touch happen on the steering where it is mounted, while Fingerprint sensor provide a secure and convenient means of vehicle access for authorized users and GPS sensor is for tracking the location of the vehicle. GSM allows communication between the system and the car’s owner. The results revealed the efficiency of the system to detect unauthorized access to the car though motion, fingerprint, GPS and touch sensor data and notified the car owner through GSM that unauthorized access was trying the car. The results are stored into the dashboard for analysis. The implementation of this project significantly contributes to car theft reduction and provide the peace of mind to the cars’ owners while ensuring the security of their cars.
