Impact of imprisonment on families of prisoners: Case study : Former Gasabo Prison

Abstract

In case of our community, the impact of imprisonment on prisoners and their families is a fundamental issue. This issue requires monetary demands, obligations, and difficulties in welfare of the relatives of jailers. The current study has been led to assess the impact of imprisonment on families and children of prisoners. This issue has not yet investigated in academic studies, jail data and media treatment. In addition, the current study has been conducted to identify challenges of the relatives of jailers thanks to detention, the monetary challenge, relatives are obliged to be more responsible, ashamed and guilty by the community and stressed. After leading the current study, the study led to “the impact of imprisonment on families of prisoners” shows that the detention has different harmful impacts to the jailer himself, the relatives, and the kids. The study also specified that the whole family also face some welfare problems among others; which affect as well the community in whole
