Abstract

In developed cities and countries, electric bikes, also known as e-bikes, are well known and common mode of transport. There is a huge demand for modern technological infrastructures, and a new demand for wireless charging systems (WCS), because of the growth and need for integration of electric mobility, particularly in e-bikes. The contactless charging technology is quickly gaining traction as a novel way to charge the supply of electric vehicles, including, of course, e-bikes. IPT is the main technology that makes wireless EV battery charging possible (IPT). The following are the main advantages of inductive power transmission over wired methods on e-bikes: the absence of a plug-in procedure, the elimination of obtrusive cables, the deletion of open connections, and a simple air gap closure, safety, and comfort. In this thesis we evaluate the opportunity and challenges of e-bikes integration in Rwanda and explore different possibilities of WCS on e-bikes. The goal is to describe this wireless charging system and suggest a new framework for a wireless charging prototype application that is both possible and efficient. Initially, this research focuses on evaluating and comparing various studies on related wireless charging systems for e-bikes in general. Following a thorough review of the literature, various factors have been developed that can have an impact on the system. These variables are assessed to gain a thorough grasp of their impact on the wireless charging phenomenon. Using these factors as design criteria, new recommended prototypes are created based on the collection of current standards. Finally, a business integration analysis using the Potential Weakness Opportunity and Challenges (PWOC) method is performed to establish a strategic planning system for wholesale e-bike companies or government policymakers to categorize potentials, weaknesses, opportunities, and constraints. The prototype displays and provides a clear direction with the framework and project commencement; the framework is designed and evaluated with feasibility and execution in mind. According to the research, Rwanda will gain from the use of e-bikes in an electric mobility program. The WCS is a good and promising profitable future industry that appeals to any e-mobility business start-ups in Rwanda.
