Need assessment of the use of mHealth for outpatients –physician communication on drugs prescribed side effects and medication compliance. Case study Nemba District Hospital

Abstract

Objectives: The main objective of this study was to assess the need for using m health for Outpatient-Physician communication on drugs prescribed side effects. Methodology: This qualitative study research was conducted among outpatients and physicians on drug-prescribed side effects in health facilities settings. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with physicians and patients regarding communication between outpatients on drugs prescribed side effects by using a semi-structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed through thematic analysis, following qualitative analysis guidelines. Results: The study found that the use of mobile health (mHealth) tools such as mobile telephones could be used to facilitate communication between physicians and patients regarding drug side effects and improve safety and outcomes. This study explored the benefits of m-health technology for outpatients and physician communication to improve medication adherence, reduce healthcare costs, and improve patient outcomes. This communication could lead to better patient understanding and management of the drug side effects of prescribed medications. Conclusion: In conclusion, the utilization of mHealth technology for outpatient physician communication concerning prescribed drug side effects is vital for improving healthcare outcomes. The integration of mobile telephones and secure messaging systems allows patients to easily reach out to their physicians, fostering convenience and accessibility. Real-time information sharing enables prompt identification and management of side effects, minimizing potential complications.
