Abstract:
The general objective of this study was to assess the impact of project management skills on project success with a case study of USAID Huguka Dukore Akazi Kanoze Project. The study specifically objected to establish the effect of communication skills on project success at Huguka Dukore Kazi Kanoze Project, to examine the effect of organization skills on project success at
Huguka Dukore Akazi Kanoze Project, to analyze the effect of Risk Management Skills on project success at Huguka Dukore Kazi Kanoze Project, to establish the effect of Interpersonal Skills on project success at Huguka Dukore Akazi Kanoze Project. This study focused on impact of project management skills on project success with a case study of USAID Huguka Dukore Akazi Kanoze Project. This study was conducted in Kigali. The time was limited in the period of 2020-2023.
This study adopted a descriptive cross-sectional study design. The study involved collection of data at a single point in time in the target population. Descriptive means that the study described phenomenon as it is without doing any form of manipulation. The sample size is 170
respondents from all the department of the project. The collected data was analyzed by the usage of SPSS. Majority of respondents (77.1%) believe that information should be presented clearly and concisely. There is a tone to accommodate a variety of audiences: 21.2% strongly agree, 63.5% agree, 2.9% are undecided, 12.4% disagree, and 0% strongly disagree. This suggests that most respondents (84.7%) recognize the importance of adapting communication to different audiences. Project managers are very good at Empowerment: This appears to be a duplicate of the second statement in the table. Project managers encourage staff skills development: 18.8% strongly agree, 79.4% agree, 0% is undecided, 1.8% disagree, and 0% strongly disagree. This indicates that a large majority of respondents (98.2%) believe that project managers encourage staff skills development. Project managers have got Monitoring skills: 0% strongly agrees, 100% agree, 0% are undecided, 0% disagree, and 0% strongly disagree. This indicates that all respondents believe that project managers have strong monitoring skills. Project managers have got controlling skills: 0% strongly agrees, 95.3% agree, 0% is undecided, 4.7% disagree, and 0% strongly disagree. This suggests that a majority of respondents (95.3%) believe that project
managers have strong controlling skills. (87.6%) believe that project managers are good at keeping time. Both the management and staff know the importance of time in the project: 37.1% strongly agree, 43.5% agree, 0% is undecided, 18.2% disagree, and 1.2% strongly disagree. This indicates that a majority of respondents (80.6%) believe that both management and staff
understand the importance of time in the project.
